The lovely Tu boutique and the Stairwell Gallery are currently hosting Kelly Mekel's first solo exhibition inspired by Perth Fashion Festival's 2013 campaign. Mekel, famous for her delicate and feminine illustrations - some of which are currently the face of the Urban Walkabout's series - reinterpreted PFF's campaign shots in her signature black pen etchings and vivid watercolour blotches creating a series of artworks, each more endearing and beautiful than the next. Designs by Dyspnea, Bikini Atoll, Jessica Hogg, Zhivago, Jaimee Lee and many more have been featured in her dreamy illustrations, creating even more anticipation for the Perth Fashion Festival to start.
I fell in love with several artworks, but unfortunately I could only settle for one, the second last image featuring Dyspnea and Bikini Atoll will soon make its way onto my wall as an exclusive three-off print. Mekel's Perth Fashion Festival 2013 Exhibition will be open to the public until September 15th, so why not admire these fashion beauties whilst sipping on a latte from Tea for Tu!
