My favourite thing about fashion shows - other than the fashionshow itself - is of course the "street style fashion" or in this case the pre-show fashion, I love how events like this bring together the most creative individuals all stylised in their own particular manner. So it's not surprising that in the last few years we've moved to taking inspiration from the streets rather than the runway. So before Designer Capsule 1, I - and every other fashun-lover - flocked to the VIP Peroni Aperitivo Bar and style stalked some of the coolest cats in town!
As I can openly admit that I am a terrible photographer and that my seating situation caused heads in the way of my runway images, you'll have to see past that and admire the beauty of the garments! DC1 kicked off on a rich note with Alister Yiap's decadent, intricate and simply astonishing golden designs, which encompassed the models in a refined ode to what I can imagine an old civilization like the Aztec or Mayan's would have worn. Models then graced the catwalk in The Butcher and The Crow, lightweight fluid dresses in dreamy hues of blue, grey and green floated down the runway - effortless simplicity at its best. Black wigs and sharp fringes marked the tone for Megan Salmon's edgy but sophisticated collection, her choice of sheer and tulle fabric and graphic prints added femininity to more structured silhouettes. My highlight of the evening was Empire Rose, not only because they managed to get a gigantic dog on the runway but because it was so haute couture, the hair, the accessories, the plaid and meshed lace - which had some Vivienne Westwood influence but in a much more feminine manner - and all the intricate embellishments that went into creating a collection that I would wear in a heartbeat, simply outstanding!
Which was your favourite collection?
